Hi there, my name is Angela. My husband and I have lived in Wales for six years now. We moved from Hertfordshire in February 2008 having lived there for nearly thirty years. It was always our dream to eventually live in the countryside in Wales but didn't think we'd get around to it for another few years. However we saw our little farm in September 2007 and had moved in by the following February 2008!!! So here we are! Fantastic! And couldn't be happier with our hasty decision, thank goodness!

I originally come from a rural village in Ireland where I grew up surrounded by all sorts of animals. My background involved many types of breeding. We bred horses, cows and Greyhounds so I think the breeding bug well and truly got to me then .The safe arrival of any little creature is pure magic and I never cease to be impressed with nature. Be it a gruelling calving, a whimpering newborn puppy, a squeaking kitten or the astonishing rapid graceful arrival of a silky foal.

As a child I grew up with collies and eventually got my own first Rough Collie about 24 years ago. She was called Lady and was the most gentle lady imaginable .She was a loyal and loving companion and instilled a deep love of the breed. The time wasn't right to embark on dog breeding back then due to a growing family and horse breeding. Therefore we waited until the time was right to move to the next inevitable stage! Rough Collie breeding!

I researched long and hard before deciding on a breeder. However, my decision was easily made upon meeting Mark Hales of Markenfield Rough Collies here in South Wales. My initial visit was met with happily barking collies with tails wagging in greeting. This was exactly what I wanted to see, a breeder who clearly cared about his dogs and had a great relationship with them. He was extremely helpful and friendly and has continued to be.

I have been breeding Hanoverian horses for several years but never really did enjoy the showing side. I much preferred to concentrate on the competition side of the horse world. Unfortunately for Summer and Sky I never got around to showing them either! I feel rather guilty about this as they both come from a huge line of Champions and would undoubtedly have followed in their parents footsteps. We decided to breed from Summer not only because of her superb pedigree but most importantly because she has the most exceptional temperament. I had yet to find a dog with such a kind heart and unflappable, trainable nature, that was until the arrival of her beautiful daughter Sky!

Summer & Sky
Both girls are  shadows to our grandchildren in spite of frequent chaotic scenes involving baddies and space aliens launching attacks! They like nothing better than to lounge around and sunbathe alongside our chickens and play cat and mouse with our cats, with them both most definitely being the mice until they give in and roll over and gets smothered with pussy cat kisses! It is a joy to witness!

Summer very cleverly runs up and down along the fence line of the horses field pretending to race them which they thoroughly enjoy whilst kicking their heels up! One of her favourite pastimes is pretending to round up all the horses when I go to check them! Sky looks on whilst debating if the effort is quite worth it!

Their visits into our goats field are usually brief as Alfie and Ellie feel duty bound to chase any dog or cat that dares venture into their domain! Poor Summer and Sky try on a daily basis to play with Alfie and Ellie but no matter how they try Alfie can't resist chasing them around the field in an attempt to bash them with his head! Really he's just playing but the girls don't believe in taking any uneccesary chances and beat a very hasy retreat! Very funny to watch though!!

After much research to find the right stud dog for Summer we were very fortunate to discover Triburle Rough Collies, Christine and Noel Collins. They are the proud owners of the very handsome and very successful CH Jopium Touch of Soul for Triburle JW ( follow link to find out more about him http://www.collienet.com/breeders/Triburle.htm  http://www.collienet.com/pedigrees/triburle%20stud%20dogs.htm#TOS ). He has won numerous shows including Best in Show at the British Collie Club in 2010 and Best of Breed at Crufts in both 2010 and 2012, which is pretty impressive! He does indeed have an air of importance about him and rightly deserved! Christine and Noel very kindly allowed Summer to stay for a sleepover for a few days which was much appreciated!

As a result of this liaison Summer produced a wonderful litter of eight healthy, bouncing puppies in March 2011!

Included in this litter of course was the gorgeous Sky.We knew that we wanted to keep a female from Summers  first litter and Sky was our immediate choice, not just for her looks but for her calm ability to keep order within the litter when a quite word was needed with her brothers occasionally! Sky has grown into a stunning young lady with her mothers gentle nature and is destined to be a wonderful mother just like her mum! The remainder of our puppies went on to be homed with loving and caring families with our daughter keeping the handsome Kody!

The combination of Summer and Otis was so successful that we decided to repeat the process and Summer duly 'visited' Otis again this year! Once again our super Summer produced eight bouncing puppies in April 2012! She is a true natural mother and thrives in her role. This time she had Sky as a Nanny to assist, which she did unfailingly! Once again we were delighted to seek out the perfect caring homes for all of our puppies. It's a joy to know that our puppies are being loved and cared for with the right families and a glance at our comment section will reveal just how much these puppies mean to their wonderul new owners. We keep in contact with all of them and regularly get pictures and updates about them which makes us so happy. We are hoping for Sky to have her first litter in the new year!

Having embarked on more research for an equally impressive stud dog for Sky, with temperament being paramount, we were once again extremely fortunate to be guided in the direction of Jayne and Carl Llewellyn of Salsina Rough Collies in Merthyr Tydfil (many thanks to Christine Collins of Triburle Rough Collies for her help again!). Jayne and Carl are the proud owners of the very handsome Ch Salsina Stargazer otherwise known as Storm (click here to find out more about him http://www.salsina.com/Storm.html ), who has won, among many other accolades, Best of Breed at Crufts in 2011! Jayne very kindly allowed Sky to stay at her place for several days to assist in the budding romance! Sky settled in as if she had been there forever and was cared for wonderfully by Jayne and Carl, for which I am extremely grateful. Sky returned home full of the joys of spring and it was apparent almost immediately that she may indeed be in the family way! Sky was recently scanned and her pregnancy confirmed with the due date, all being well, the first week of February. We are all eagerly awaiting the impending arrival!

We are delighted to say that Sky produced four beautiful, healthy, bouncing puppies; one boy and three girls on 1st February 2013! One of our daughters has added Santaloly's Sky Romance, known as Luna, to her family and we decided to add Santaloly's Sky Kiss, known as Spring to our family!! The remaining two puppies went on to wonderful homes.

On 5th December 2013 Summer produced three gorgeous healthy puppies, one boy and two girls. Once again Summer took everything in her stride and continues to be a first class mum!!
